Catholic Hospital Under Fire for Arguing That Fetuses Aren't People Posted: 25 Jan 2013 04:59 AM PST Under Colorado law, a fetus is not a person, but Catholic leaders say that's no excuse for one of their hospitals to use that argument to win a legal battle. The debate comes from a lawsuit filed by a man whose wife and unborn twins died at St. Thomas More Hospital in Canon City, Colorado. She was seven months preagent at the time and the lawsuit alleges that the hospital was liable for wrongful death because they failed to perform a Cesarean section to save the twins. The case is currently being appealed to the State Supreme Court |

U.S. Catholic bishops review lawsuit saying fetuses not people Posted: 24 Jan 2013 11:02 PM PST DENVER (Reuters) - Three Colorado bishops said on Thursday they will review a Catholic Church hospital's defense of a lawsuit that argues fetuses do not have legal status - apparently contradicting the Church's teaching on life issues. The case stems from a malpractice and wrongful death lawsuit filed by Jeremy Stodghill in the 2006 death of his seven-month pregnant wife Lori at a Catholic hospital in Canon City, Colorado.
