A woman attending a ceremony that marks the beginning of the Holocaust, left, tries to stop ultra-traditionalist Catholics from interrupting an interfaith event at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Buenos Aires, Argentina, late Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013. The small group disrupted by shouting the rosary and the "Our Father" prayer, and spreading pamphlets saying "followers of false gods must be kept out of the sacred temple." Jimmy Fallon Wants The Pope to Guest on 'The Tonight Show'

Jimmy Fallon Wants The Pope to Guest on 'The Tonight Show'You could say that Pope Francis and Jimmy Fallon have something in common, both bringing their old fashioned jobs (leader of the Catholic Church, late night host) into the modern era by both displaying social media savvy. But would the Pope go on The Tonight Show when Fallon takes over? In an interview with Bill Carter of the New York Times about his upcoming transition from Late Night to The Tonight Show, Fallon revealed he has three dream guests for his February 17 debut: President Obama (with whom Fallon has already slow jammed the news), Hillary Clinton, or Pope Francis. Though the Pope would be a huge (and probably unlikely) coup for Fallon, despite their mutual interest in selfies, he did say that he knows who the first guest on his show will be, "kind of." Other world religious leaders looking to steal the Pope's thunder: your window is closing.

Activists protesting sexual abuse in the Catholic church, hold up placards outside St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney on July 18, 2008An Australian state inquiry into the handling of child sex cases by the Catholic Church on Wednesday said religious leaders trivialised the problem and recommended concealment of abuse should be a crime. Its report tabled in the Victorian parliament follows a long-running probe and concluded that "we can reasonably estimate that there have been several thousand victims criminally abused in non-government organisations in Victoria alone". The most senior Catholic in Victoria, Melbourne Archbishop Denis Hart, admitted the church had been too slow toact on paedophile priests. The report also suggested an independent statutory body to oversee the handling of sexual abuse allegations within government, non-government and religious organisations.

Man surfaces at San Diego church 34 years after abduction to Mexico

Posted: 12 Nov 2013 08:00 PM PST

By Marty Graham SAN DIEGO (Reuters) - A U.S.-born man who was abducted as a child, taken to Mexico and robbed of all his money in a harrowing trek back to the United States more than three decades later has found refuge at a San Diego church that is trying to reunite him with his mother in Wisconsin. David Amaya Barrick, 37, was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents last month but freed after convincing authorities of his U.S. citizenship and contacting his mother for the first time since his 1979 abduction - only to vanish again for several days. His mother, Kathy Amaya, 60, was so distraught by his disappearance that she called San Diego police last week to report him missing. "We are going to find a way to get him to his family," said Pastor Freddy Rivas.
